In this Aprilaire 500 Humidifier Review we review this humidifier’s functionality, design and value for money.
Do you ever wonder about the air you inhale? I know that it’s not a very normal thing to think about but if you do, you will realise that there may be a lot of problems with the air that we inhale. One of the major problems that can be present in the atmosphere in your apartment is dryness. The air may lack moisture which causes many unwanted symptoms to your body, furniture and even indoor plants. In winter, it causes excessive static electricity. People suffering from respiratory distress such as asthma often find difficulty in winters because that’s when dryness is at it’s most. To overcome the problem of dryness, you must purchase a humidifier. I strongly recommend the Aprilaire 500 Humidifier as it is one of the best humidifiers in the market.

What type of humidifier is Aprilaire 500 Humidifier ?
It is a forced air bypass flow-through humidifier.
It is used when a forced-air furnace is used, where it is installed on the furnace.
How does this humidifier work?
This humidifier is installed between the return ducts of hot and cold air in a forced-air furnace. The pressure difference between these two ducts produces some hot air that makes a bypass within the humidifier and is pushed back into the furnace.
The water is brought directly to a valve at the top of the humidifier. This valve leads to an aluminium pipe-like structure lined with ceramic. When the humidifier operates, water enters this pipe and the hot air is allowed in, which evaporates the water forming a warm mist that enters the building through the air system.
Should I use this humidifier all year long?
This humidifier is mainly used in winter where the humidity natuarally drops. It helps in protecting wooden furniture and antiques. In winter, it can also cut on the heating costs as it provides a warm mist that increases humidity which makes the users feel warmer and require less heating.
In summer, the humidifier should be shut off as it may counteract the cooling system that basically operates on reducing the relative humidity of the place.
How long does it take to set up this humidifier?
It may take up to 2 – 4 hrs.
Why is this humidifier better than the other type of Forced-Air Humidifiers?
It requires less maintenance
It does not depend on stagnant water which prevents mold growth
Doesn’t require expensive air filters
Cuts on usage of electricity
Where do I install the outdoor sensor?
It is usually installed in the cold air inlet of the furnace.
Does it have a warranty?
Yes, it has 5 years limited warratny, unless you install the device on your own.
